Summary from Working Groups
- Critical transitions dictionary (lead Elisabeth): The group decided steps forwards in coding the literature. There will be a follow up zoom meeting in September to clarify any questions on the coding and the aim is to have all papers coded by end of October. If you want to contribute, please get in touch with Elisabeth <e.h.krueger@uva.nl>.
- Food systems (lead Marta): The group is working on a perspective paper invited by OneEarth. Marta will circulate an extended outline and there will be a follow up zoom meeting in the fall, where the outline will be agreed and writing tasks distributed. If interested, please contact Marta <marta.tuninetti@polito.it>.
- Anticipating capacities (lead Lan): The group has an outline on the role of anticipatory capacity in the Anthropocene. The review / perspective paper will reflect on how we can do better prediction today, but the field plane is moving and our ability to anticipate things is not necessarily getting better. If interested in contributing, please contact Lan <lan.wang@su.se>.
- New math workshop (lead Vitor and Juan): BIRS has an open call for workshop proposals due September 16th (https://proposals.birs.ca/guidelines). We will propose a workshop on the mathematical tools needed to study innovation and transformations in social-ecological systems that emerge from first principles. Vitor and Juan are putting together a potential list of participants and the proposal. If you want to contribute, please contact Juan (the working folder is here).
- Coperation in large networks (lead Guillaume): The group is interested on developing a modelling framework for studying the emergence of cooperation in multi-level networks (e.g individuals, companies, cities, countries). If interested in the discussions and next steps, please contract Guillaume <g.falmagne@princeton.edu>.
- Positionality statements (lead Hannah): The group had a session on the role of positionally statements on research, and what are best practices. They will be looking at how journals in the social sciences request this and put together a guide for us on what it is and how to best engage with positionally statements. If interested, please reach out to Hannah <hannah.prawitz@pik-potsdam.de>.
